Changes in the Format of "BOJ Current Account Balances by Sector"

The Bank of Japan will change the format of "BOJ Current Account Balances by Sector" and items of the relevant time-series data.

This is in line with the amendment to the "Principal Terms and Conditions of Complementary Deposit Facility" decided at the Monetary Policy Meeting held on March 18 and 19, 2024.

The details of the changes are as follows.

1. BOJ Current Account Balances by Sector

The publication of "(Reference) Current Account Balances Subject to the Complementary Deposit Facility (from the 16th of the Month to the 15th of the Following Month)" will be discontinued after the release of figures for the February 2024 reserve maintenance period. Starting with the data for the March 2024 reserve maintenance period, a new table "3. Current Account Balances Subject to the Complementary Deposit Facility (Average Amounts Outstanding from the 16th of the Month to the 15th of the Following Month)" will be added.

Note: Data on "3. Current Account Balances Subject to the Complementary Deposit Facility (Average Amounts Outstanding from the 16th of the Month to the 15th of the Following Month)" for the March 2024 reserve maintenance period will be released on June 17, 2024.

2. Time-Series Data on the BOJ Time-Series Data Search

The time-series data relevant to "(Reference) Current Account Balances Subject to the Complementary Deposit Facility (from the 16th of the Month to the 15th of the Following Month)" will no longer be updated after the release of figures for the February 2024 reserve maintenance period. Starting with the data for the March 2024 reserve maintenance period, a new item "Current Account Balances Subject to the Complementary Deposit Facility (Average Amounts Outstanding from the 16th of the Month to the 15th of the Following Month)" will be added.
