The Bank of Japan's Research and Statistics Department releases the research data "Measures of Underlying Inflation" on a monthly basis. In line with the start of the release of the new index of the official CPI -- "All items, less fresh food and energy" -- by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Bank will change the data series and release schedule of "Measures of Underlying Inflation."

Up until the data for December 2016, (1) the CPI (all items less fresh food and energy), (2) the diffusion index of increasing/decreasing items, and (3) the trimmed mean were released at 2:00 p.m. on the same day as the release of the official CPI for Japan.
In addition to (1), (2), and (3) above, (4) the mode and (5) the weighted median, with the data set, were released at 2:00 p.m., three business days after the release of the official CPI for Japan.

From the data for January 2017, the diffusion index of increasing/decreasing items, the trimmed mean, mode, and weighted median, with the data set, will be released at 2:00 p.m., two business days after the release of the official CPI for Japan.

The data for January 2017 will be available at around 2:00 p.m. on March 7, 2017.
