Bank of Japan (BOJ) revises the list of surveyed banks for the "Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices at Large Japanese Banks" as from April 2003 survey. BOJ makes it rule to review the list of surveyed banks every three years.

In this survey, BOJ invites the 50 largest Japanese commercial banks in terms of loan amount outstanding, comprising city banks, long-term credit banks, trust banks, regional banks, regional banks II, and shinkin banks.
(See Introduction of the "Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices at Large Japanese Banks" ("Loan Survey") for the details of the survey.)

The aggregated loan amount of the 50 reporting banks accounts for approximately 75 percent of total amount outstanding of loans by all Japanese commercial banks in the year 2001.

This revision is the first time since the first release in April 2000. The list of surveyed banks will be reviewed in the survey of April 2006.
