QuestionWhat are the major international forums in which the Bank participates? What is discussed and decided at such forums?

Answer

The Bank participates in a variety of international meetings such as the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meetings of the G20, G7, and ASEAN+3; the meeting of central bank governors at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS); the Group of Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS); the Financial Stability Board (FSB); and the Executives' Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks (EMEAP). The Bank is also actively involved in a number of committees such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and three committees established under the meeting of central bank governors at the BIS: the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI), and the Markets Committee (MC).

In addition to these, the Bank holds individual gatherings with foreign central banks and international organizations such as the BIS and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). By taking part in these meetings and committees, the Bank exchanges information and views on such matters as recent developments in the global economy, the conduct of monetary policy, global financial markets, the global financial system, and financial regulation and supervision, and discusses measures to deal with a range of issues. The Bank also helps to formulate international standards and guidelines in order to improve the stability and efficiency of global financial markets, and makes policy proposals based on its analyses of the current situation.
